Guardiola Backs Omar Marmoush and Confirms His Importance to Manchester City

As the season heats up with the decisive stages approaching, Manchester City enter a critical phase while competing on multiple fronts at the same time, with some players beginning to attract attention through influential performances that do not necessarily reflect their actual playing minutes.
Guardiola praises Marmoush
Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with what Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush is delivering, stressing that the team does not rely solely on Erling Haaland and needs attacking contributions from all players in the frontline.
He added that Marmoush’s situation is not easy due to the presence of a single main striker, but emphasized that the Egyptian forward is producing a strong goal-per-minute ratio and is expected to play a bigger role in the coming period with the increasing match congestion and squad rotation policy.
Pressure of multiple competitions on City
At a stage where there is no room for mistakes, and with the battle raging on several fronts, Manchester City continued their pressure in the Premier League after an important 3-0 win over Brentford, keeping them just two points behind leaders Arsenal and confirming that the title race is still open heading into the final rounds.
The match was not just about three points, but also highlighted the depth of Guardiola’s squad and his ability to decide games from the bench, as Egyptian star Omar Marmoush once again stole the spotlight by scoring the third goal in stoppage time after coming on as a substitute.
That goal carried special significance, ending a 105-day goal drought in the Premier League, since his last strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 24, marking a perfectly timed return during the most sensitive stage of the season.
Marmoush has now reached 7 goals in all competitions this season, proving to be an impactful option in decisive moments despite limited starts, in a squad heavily based on attacking rotation and big names in the frontline.
City’s involvement in multiple competitions this season, including the Premier League and the FA Cup, has increased fixture congestion and the need to rely on all available players, especially amid fierce competition for every title.
At the same time, interest in Marmoush’s future is growing again, with several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation, most notably Aston Villa, alongside other clubs tracking his situation due to his impact despite limited minutes.
However, Manchester City still remain committed to keeping him for now, although continued competition pressure and squad congestion could leave the door open for potential developments in the transfer market.
