It appears that the relationship between Al Ahly SC and Danish coach Jes Torup has reached its final stage, but this time away from the usual clashes and crises often seen in football. The club’s management is currently working to close the file calmly, paving the way for a new phase that could bring major technical changes ahead of next season.

Al Ahly Closes the Torup File

Over the past few hours, Al Ahly intensified negotiations regarding the termination of Torup’s contract after reviewing all financial clauses in the agreement. The club reportedly settled on a compensation package that includes several months’ salary in addition to the final month of his contract, which runs until the end of June, in an effort to end the partnership professionally without entering lengthy legal disputes.

Media personality Ahmed Shobier revealed that the coach’s agent has already arrived in Cairo and held meetings with Torup in preparation for reaching a final agreement with Al Ahly following the team’s league finale against Al Masry. Both sides are said to prefer a respectful and amicable separation.

The Search for a New Coach

Al Ahly’s movements are not limited to ending the current contract, as the club has already begun preparing for the next managerial appointment. The management considers the new head coach file an absolute priority and has started contacting several foreign managers who were recently nominated for the position.

The shortlist reportedly includes several notable European names, including Portuguese coach Carlos Augusto, Dutch manager Mark van Bommel, and Portuguese coach Bruno Lage. This reflects Al Ahly’s desire to appoint a strong personality with European experience capable of restoring the club’s continental dominance.

Although Torup’s spell did not meet the expectations of the fans, the ending appears different this time. No fiery statements, no public disputes — just a calm agreement that may close one of the club’s most sensitive files and open the door to a new era eagerly awaited by Al Ahly supporters.
