Egypt have entered the final phase of preparations for their second Group G match at the 2026 World Cup, with the Pharaohs now based in Vancouver ahead of their meeting with New Zealand.

After opening their campaign with a valuable 1-1 draw against Belgium, Egypt know the importance of the challenge that awaits them at BC Place. Victory would strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stage, while any slip-up could leave qualification hanging in the balance before the final group match against Iran.

Full Squad Available

Egypt held their first training session in Vancouver with all players participating, giving the coaching staff a welcome boost ahead of the match.

The session focused on final tactical and physical preparations as Hossam Hassan and his staff continue to assess the best lineup and approach for the New Zealand clash.

With another training session scheduled before matchday, the coaching staff are looking to ensure the players are fully adapted to the conditions in Vancouver and ready for what could be one of Egypt's most important matches of the tournament.

Discipline Remains a Priority

Preparations have also been accompanied by a strong message from the coaching staff regarding concentration and discipline inside the camp.

Hossam Hassan recently warned players against becoming distracted by outside interest or approaches from marketing companies following Egypt's encouraging start to the tournament.

The coaching staff believe the focus must remain entirely on the pitch, especially with the team still having everything to play for in Group G.

The message inside the camp is clear: Egypt have achieved nothing yet, and the players must remain fully committed to the task ahead.

A Defining Test

While the draw against Belgium boosted confidence, Egypt know they cannot afford complacency against New Zealand.

The Oceania side showed their resilience in the opening round and have already demonstrated they can compete at this level. That makes the Vancouver encounter a significant test for the Pharaohs as they look to take a major step toward qualification.

With Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Trezeguet, Emam Ashour and Zizo among the attacking options available, Egypt possess the quality to make the difference. However, the coaching staff know that discipline, concentration and collective performance will be just as important as individual talent.

For Egypt, the equation is simple. A strong result in Vancouver would put the Pharaohs in a favourable position heading into the final group-stage match against Iran and move them closer to the knockout rounds.
