Egypt Claim First-Ever World Cup Victory with 3-1 Comeback Against New Zealand

The match between Egypt and New Zealand in the 2026 World Cup was not just a group-stage game. It was an important night full of emotions, as Egypt came back from behind to win 3–1, moving closer to qualification and giving fans strong hope for a historic achievement.
Early Shock, Strong Response
The match started quickly with New Zealand scoring an early goal, putting Egypt under pressure. Egypt tried to respond in the first half, but New Zealand defended well and kept the lead.
In the second half, Egypt looked completely different. The team played with more confidence, and Mostafa Zizo scored the equalizer to bring hope back.
After that, Egypt kept attacking. Mohamed Salah scored the second goal to turn the match around and give Egypt a strong advantage. Then Mahmoud Trezeguet added the third goal to almost seal the win.
Salah Inspires the Comeback
Mohamed Salah was the most important player in the match. He moved a lot, created chances, and helped Egypt control the second half.
Egypt also pressed strongly, which forced New Zealand to drop back.
In the final minutes, Ahmed “Zizo” had a clear chance to score the fourth goal, but he missed it, and the score stayed 3–1.
The victory moved Egypt to four points from two matches after the opening draw with Belgium, putting the Pharaohs in a strong position ahead of their final group-stage meeting with Iran. A positive result in that match could secure Egypt a place in the knockout rounds.
Fans celebrated the win, but the team knows the journey is still long and the performance must stay strong in the next game.
In Vancouver, Egypt showed it can come back in any match, and the dream of qualification is now much closer than before.
