Akram Tawfik Returns to Al Ahly on Three-Year Free Transfer Despite Pyramids Offer

Al Ahly are closing in on the return of Akram Tawfik during the current summer transfer window after Qatari club Al Shamal announced the mutual termination of the player's contract, paving the way for his return to the Egyptian giants.
Tawfik's return comes after intensive negotiations and contacts between the player and Al Ahly, with the final details reportedly being completed in recent hours. The move also came after Al Shamal head coach Hussein Ammouta approved the player's departure.
Three-Year Deal and a Salary of Up to EGP 33 Million
According to the reports cited in the sources, Tawfik has agreed to a three-year contract with Al Ahly. His basic annual salary is reportedly around EGP 25 million, with bonuses and incentives potentially taking his total earnings to around EGP 33 million or slightly more, in line with the club's new salary structure.
Former Al Ahly football official Sayed Abdel Hafiz played a key role in the negotiations, holding a meeting with Tawfik in Cairo in recent days. The meeting reportedly helped settle the main terms of the deal, building on an understanding between the two sides that had been in place for around two months.
Pyramids Made an Offer, but Tawfik Chose Al Ahly
Tawfik's return was not straightforward, as Pyramids entered the race and reportedly offered the player more money. However, Tawfik ultimately chose to return to Al Ahly.
Several factors reportedly influenced his decision, including tensions with his coach in Qatar and his desire to end his spell with Al Shamal and return to Egypt.
The player's financial sacrifice also appears to have played a role in making the move possible, with reports claiming that he agreed to give up a significant portion of his outstanding financial dues at Al Shamal in order to facilitate his departure.
Al Ahly are looking to strengthen their midfield, particularly following Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane's departure, making Tawfik's return an important addition to the squad's plans for the new season.
With the main points reportedly agreed, the path now appears clear for the "Joker" to return to Al Ahly, despite Pyramids' larger financial offer, with the final procedures and official announcement still to come.
