Egypt’s U17 national team, born in 2009, has been hit by a surprise coaching change during its preparations for the World Cup after head coach Hussein Abdel Latif apologized for not continuing in his position.

Abdel Latif’s departure came after he received an offer to coach Libya’s U17 national team, born in 2010. He accepted the opportunity and decided to begin a new chapter in Libyan football, at a time when Egypt’s youth team was preparing for several important stages ahead of the World Cup.

Hussein Abdel Latif’s decision to leave Egypt’s 2009-born national team presents the Egyptian Football Association with a new challenge, particularly because the change comes during a sensitive period in the team’s preparations for the World Cup in Qatar.
