Omar Fayed is now on the verge of joining Italian side Frosinone after arriving in Rome and undergoing his medical examinations ahead of completing his move from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The transfer represents a fresh opportunity for the 23-year-old Egyptian defender, who has struggled to secure regular first-team football at Fenerbahce since joining the club in 2023.

Rome hosts the final step

Fayed arrived in Rome and headed to Villa Stuart for his medical tests, a routine step before the final contracts are signed and the transfer is officially announced.

According to the reports provided, Frosinone have reached an agreement with Fenerbahce to sign the Egyptian defender on a permanent basis rather than another loan spell. One report stated that the proposed contract would run for five years.

The Italian club's offer was also reported to be worth around €200,000, with Fenerbahce retaining a 50% share of any future sale of the player.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio published footage showing Fayed arriving at Villa Stuart, highlighting that the transfer had entered its final stages.

A long search for regular football

Fayed, 23, began his career with Egyptian club Al Mokawloon before joining Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023.

However, he never made a first-team appearance for the Turkish giants and instead spent the following seasons on loan in different European leagues.

He played for Serbian side Novi Pazar during the 2023-24 season, then joined Belgian club Beerschot for the following campaign before spending the 2025-26 season with Portuguese side Arouca.

According to one of the reports, Fayed made 38 league appearances across his three European loan spells, in addition to 28 appearances for Al Mokawloon before moving abroad.

His move to Frosinone offers a different challenge. The Italian club have returned to Serie A after a two-season absence, giving Fayed the opportunity to compete at a higher level and attempt to establish himself in Italian football.

Fayed had also been linked with Egyptian giants Al Ahly, but the transfer ultimately moved toward Italy. The defender now faces a new challenge, with regular playing time and proving his ability at the highest level becoming his main objectives.
