Al Ahly has finalized its first-team squad for the 2026-2027 season ahead of the start of the new league campaign, following a busy summer transfer window that brought major changes to the squad.

The new list combines experienced players with promising young talents, while the club also made important decisions regarding its foreign players and several ongoing contractual situations.

New Signings and Major Departures

Al Ahly strengthened its squad with several new additions during the transfer window, signing Ali Mahmoud and Aqtai Abdullah from ENPPI, along with Moroccan striker Soufiane Benjedida and Algerian player Moncef Bekrar, as well as Mahmoud Salah and Tawfik Mohamed.

Akram Tawfik also returned to the squad after ending his spell with Qatar-based Al-Shamal. Meanwhile, the signing of left-back Tawfik Mohamed became particularly important after Moroccan defender Youssef Belaili suffered an ACL injury, prompting Al Ahly to move quickly to reinforce the position.

At the same time, several notable names left the club, including Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Mohamed Sherif and Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar, alongside a number of other players who either moved to different clubs or ended their contracts with Al Ahly.

The club also decided to keep Moroccan duo Achraf Dari and Reda Slim on the final squad list, with both players still under contract and no agreement reached to terminate their deals by mutual consent.

A Blend of Experience and Youth

Al Ahly's goalkeeping department includes Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir and Hamza Alaa. The defensive line features Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Yassin Marei, Hady Riad, Amr El Gazar, Ahmed Eid, Karim El Debis, Karim Fouad, Achraf Dari and Tawfik Mohamed.

The midfield includes Marwan Attia, Akram Tawfik, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Reda, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Omar El Saai, Taher Mohamed Taher, Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, Ali Mahmoud, Aqtai Abdullah and Ahmed Nabil Kouka, while the attacking options include Achraf Bencharki, Reda Slim, Hussein El Shahat, Moncef Bekrar and Soufiane Benjedida.

The club has also retained several young players in the 2005 age category, including Mohamed Abdullah, Mohamed Raafat, Omar Sayed Moawad and Ahmed Khaled Kabaka. Mahmoud Salah has been registered with the youth team for the 2007 age group.

According to the information provided by the sources, Mohamed Abdel Nasser, the midfielder from Arab Contractors, is scheduled to join Al Ahly in January as part of the agreement between the two clubs.

Al Ahly's final squad includes five foreign players: Achraf Dari, Reda Slim, Achraf Bencharki, Soufiane Benjedida and Algerian forward Moncef Bekrar. Youssef Belaili is no longer part of the squad plans following his injury, while Tunisian Mohamed El Dhaoui Kristou remains involved in discussions over a possible contract termination after recovering from surgery.

Al Ahly will therefore enter the new season with a significantly reshaped squad, combining experienced stars, new signings and emerging talents as the club looks to compete on both domestic and continental fronts.
