The money from Hossam Abdel Meguid’s transfer to Bulgarian club Ludogorets has reached Zamalek’s coffers, but the expected financial boost will not be fully available to the club after a significant portion was immediately allocated to repay a previous loan.

Transfer Money Arrives, But the Loan Comes First

According to the sources provided, Zamalek have received the first installment of Hossam Abdel Meguid’s transfer fee, worth no more than €700,000, from a total deal valued at around €1.5 million.

The club had previously received financial support from a businessman in the form of a loan to help meet the requirements needed to obtain its license. The agreement stipulated that the money would be repaid once the club received the proceeds of Abdel Meguid’s transfer.

Once the first installment entered Zamalek’s accounts, the agreed amount was transferred back to the businessman, in accordance with the previous arrangement. As a result, the club will not have full access to the immediate proceeds of the transfer to address its squad’s financial needs.

Hossam Abdel Meguid Begins a New European Chapter

Hossam Abdel Meguid’s departure marks the end of an important chapter at Zamalek and the beginning of his first European experience with Bulgarian side Ludogorets.

The defender came through Zamalek’s youth academy and made 171 appearances for the first team, scoring 15 goals and providing one assist. He also became known for his aerial ability and his confidence from the penalty spot.

During his time with Zamalek, Abdel Meguid won seven trophies, including three Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups, the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup.

He also represented Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, making a memorable contribution by scoring the decisive penalty against Australia in the Round of 32 before beginning a new chapter in European football.
