Pyramids continued their impressive start to the Egyptian Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Al Masry on Monday night at the New Suez Stadium in the third round of the competition.

Defender Ahmed Samy scored the only goal of the match early on, helping Pyramids secure their third consecutive victory and maintain a perfect record after the opening three rounds, while Al Masry suffered their first defeat of the season.

Pyramids made a strong start and quickly found a way through Al Masry’s defense. Moroccan right-back Mohamed El Shibi delivered an excellent corner into the penalty area, where Ahmed Samy rose above the defense and headed the ball into the net to give his team an early lead.

Al Masry did not give up after conceding and immediately began searching for an equalizer, creating several dangerous chances during the first half.

Al Masry Push

Mohamed Makhlouf was among Al Masry’s biggest attacking threats, trying his luck with a shot from outside the penalty area that went wide.

Ahmed El Karmouty also delivered a dangerous cross from the right side, which Mohamed El Shamy met with a header, but his effort failed to trouble the net.

Al Masry then came extremely close to equalizing when Makhlouf fired a powerful effort that struck the post. Goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy reacted well afterward to clear the danger and keep Pyramids in front.

Despite Al Masry’s pressure for long periods of the first half, Pyramids remained organized at the back and successfully protected their narrow advantage.

Before halftime, Oudeh Fakhouri was forced to leave the pitch because of injury, with Nasser Maher coming on in his place.

Pyramids Hold Firm

Pyramids started the second half looking for another goal to make the result more comfortable, while Al Masry continued pushing forward in search of an equalizer.

Nasser Maher had an opportunity from the edge of the penalty area, but his effort went just wide of the left post.

The game remained open, with Al Masry trying to increase the pressure on Ahmed El Shenawy’s goal while Pyramids looked to use the spaces left behind and score a second.

Al Masry continued their attempts late in the game, and Khair El Din Toual saw an effort deflected by the Pyramids defense and go out of play.

Pyramids stayed disciplined during the closing stages and successfully protected Ahmed Samy’s early goal until the final whistle.

The victory took Pyramids to nine points from their opening three matches, keeping their perfect record intact and moving them clear at the top of the Egyptian Premier League standings.

Al Masry, meanwhile, remained on six points after suffering their first league defeat of the season following a positive start in their opening two matches.

The result underlined Pyramids’ strong start to the new campaign. They managed to collect all three points despite coming under considerable pressure during different periods of the game, showing the defensive strength needed to protect a narrow lead and maintain their perfect league record.
