Trabzonspor Add €17m Guinea-Bissau Striker Franculino Djú to Mohamed Salah’s Attack

Trabzonspor have officially completed the signing of Guinea-Bissau striker Frankulino Dju from Danish club Midtjylland in one of the Turkish side's biggest moves of the summer transfer window.
The club presented its new striker to the media after completing the deal, as Trabzonspor continue to strengthen an attacking line that includes Egypt captain Mohamed Salah.
The signing is part of the club's attempt to add more attacking options and improve its results after its recent exit from the Europa League qualifiers.
Trabzonspor hope Frankulino can become an important part of their attack this season, especially alongside Salah, as the Turkish club looks to compete more strongly in domestic and European competitions.
Major Deal
Trabzonspor reached an agreement with Midtjylland to sign Frankulino for a fixed fee of €17 million, with additional bonuses and performance-related payments also included in the deal.
The transfer fee will be paid in eight installments, while Midtjylland will also receive 15% of the profit from any future sale of the striker after taking into account the money paid or due to be paid by Trabzonspor.
Frankulino signed a four-year contract with the Turkish club, with an option to extend the deal for another season.
The Guinea-Bissau international is expected to earn an annual guaranteed salary of just over €2.1 million during the first four years of his contract.
Trabzonspor also managed to register the striker in the European squad submitted to UEFA, making him available for the club's UEFA Conference League campaign.
Promising Striker
Frankulino is 22 years old and was born on June 28, 2004. He mainly plays as a centre-forward and also holds Portuguese nationality.
He started his football career in Benfica's academy before moving to Midtjylland in the summer of 2023, where his performances quickly attracted attention.
The young striker became known for his pace, movement and ability to score goals, developing into one of the Danish club's most important attacking players.
According to the figures reported from his time with Midtjylland, Frankulino played 117 matches, scoring 58 goals and providing 15 assists.
He also previously played 16 matches for Benfica's Under-23 side, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists.
Trabzonspor are placing major hopes on their new signing after investing a significant fee and handing him a long-term contract.
His arrival gives the Turkish side another important option in attack, with the club hoping that Frankulino and Mohamed Salah can become key parts of a stronger attacking unit.
Attention will now turn to how the coaching staff use Trabzonspor's attacking options and whether Frankulino can reproduce the performances he showed in Denmark after moving to Turkish football.
A successful partnership with Salah could give Trabzonspor more goals and attacking variety as the club looks to compete on more than one front this season.
