Al Ahly have begun taking practical steps to complete the process of appointing a foreign refereeing team for their upcoming league matches against Pyramids and Zamalek, after the club settled on transferring the required fees to the Egyptian Football Association in the coming days. This comes after approval was granted for Al Ahly’s request to have foreign referees appointed for both matches, given their importance in the title phase of the competition.

Administrative move

Al Ahly’s administrative step reflects how much is at stake in both matches, especially since the Pyramids game represents a direct point of conflict in the title race, while the Zamalek clash remains one of the most significant fixtures in the competition regardless of the standings. For that reason, the club appears determined not to leave any room for refereeing controversy before two matches that could have a direct impact on how the race unfolds until the end.

In the background, this decision is also linked to the atmosphere surrounding some recent matches and to Al Ahly’s desire to approach decisive fixtures with the greatest possible level of organizational clarity. From the club’s point of view, the move looks like a precautionary step aimed at avoiding new disputes as the pressure of the final stage of the season continues to rise.

Preparing for the showdown

On the technical side, Al Ahly resume training today, Thursday, in preparation for the match against Pyramids, scheduled for April 27, after a four-day break following their win over Smouha. The team enter this stage aware that the upcoming match could be one of the most influential fixtures of the season in the title race, especially as it comes against a direct rival in the decisive stage.

Jes Torup is leading the team’s technical and mental preparations for the match, with the aim of getting the squad ready in the best possible way before the clash at the Air Defense Stadium. At the same time, Al Ahly are working administratively to close the file of foreign referees early, so they can enter the preparation period for both matches without delays in the procedures.
