Tensions Rise at Modern Sport as Shika and Desouki Face Investigation Amid Mounting Criticism

The atmosphere at Modern Sport Club is tense, with significant divisions arising after statements made by first-team players Abdelrahman Shika and Mohamed Desouki against the club's management. These remarks, which sparked widespread controversy both inside and outside the club, prompted the management to take escalatory actions against the players, threatening the stability of the team's environment.
Players Referred for Investigation
The crisis at Modern Sport continues to escalate, as the club's board, led by Dr. Walid Dabas, decided to refer first-team players Abdelrahman Shika and Mohamed Desouki for investigation over their recent comments attacking the club’s management on social media.
The crisis began when the players made sharp remarks about the delayed payment of their dues, in addition to protesting some of the club's decisions, such as the exclusion of certain players without clear reasons. These comments stirred significant debate inside the club and contributed to the escalation of the situation.
Hassan’s Remarks Spark Criticism
The situation didn't stop there, as former player Hossam Hassan’s remarks exacerbated the situation. He accused the management of mistreating players and deliberately "humiliating" them. Hassan posted a statement on his social media accounts, which triggered a wave of criticism against the club from the Egyptian sports community.
In an official response, Modern Sport confirmed that it had settled all of Hossam Hassan's financial dues by March 2026, and Hassan signed a final settlement, which denies the accusations made against him. The club also pointed out that Hassan's comments represented a breach of the terms of the contract and posed a threat to the club’s reputation, confirming legal actions would be taken against him.
Shika Opens Fire on Modern Sport’s Management
The attack didn’t stop with Hossam Hassan. Abdelrahman Shika also joined in, launching sharp criticisms at the management through his personal Instagram account. Shika wrote, "The problem wasn’t with the players excluded by the club, but without the four excluded players, including myself, and after God, if it weren’t for Majdi Abdel-Aty, this team wouldn’t have remained in the Premier League this season."
He continued, "Describing the club’s environment as bad is an understatement, and there’s more to come; these are the worst people I have dealt with in my life." Shika’s remarks come after similar statements from Hossam Hassan, who also criticized Modern Sport’s management.
Crisis Deepens at the Club
With the increasing remarks and attacks on the management by the players, the crisis at Modern Sport has become more complicated. The club has indicated that it will take legal action against both Hossam Hassan and Shika if the attacks on the management continue. Shika and Desouki have been officially referred for investigation due to these comments.
These ongoing crises between the players and management at Modern Sport highlight the instability within the club, and further developments are expected in the coming days, potentially leading to harsh decisions to maintain discipline and mutual respect within the organization.
