Asil Osama’s throw in Oregon was more than a successful attempt in the javelin competition. It became a defining moment in Egyptian athletics history after the young Egyptian athlete won the gold medal at the World U20 Championships in the United States with a throw of 59.82 meters, becoming the first Egyptian female athlete to win a world gold medal in the javelin throw.

Asil Osama began making a name for herself with Smouha Club and the Egyptian national team, producing a series of notable performances in the javelin throw.

At the 2024 Egyptian U18 Championships, she recorded 51.97 meters. In 2025, she continued her rise by winning the gold medal at the African U18 Championships in Nigeria with a throw of 54.83 meters, breaking the previous African record for the event.

Her progress continued in 2026. In April, Asil claimed another major title by winning the U20 javelin gold medal at the Arab Championships in Tunisia, recording 56.34 meters and breaking the previous Arab record.

With her level continuing to rise, the Egyptian athlete entered the World Championships in Oregon with high ambitions. She first secured her place in the final after recording 55.89 meters in the qualifying round.

In the final, Asil produced a mark of 59.82 meters to take first place and deliver a historic world gold medal for Egypt in the javelin throw.
