Hamza Abdelkarim Moves a Step Closer to His Barcelona Dream as Flick Keeps Him in the First-Team Picture

Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim continues to attract attention at Barcelona after being given another opportunity to train with the first team under German head coach Hansi Flick, highlighting the young striker’s continued presence in the coaching staff’s plans ahead of the new season.
Barcelona returned to training on Monday after a day off following their participation in a three-team friendly tournament in Udine, Italy. The Catalan side are preparing for the new campaign, which begins with a La Liga clash against Elche on August 23.
Flick Keeps Hamza Abdelkarim Working With the First Team
Hamza Abdelkarim trained alongside Alvaro Cortes and the first-team squad during Monday’s session, while most of the Barcelona Atletic players who had previously joined first-team training were not included in the latest session.
Hamza’s continued involvement with the senior squad reflects the attention he has received from the coaching staff, particularly after his impressive performances in recent friendly matches, where he scored twice against Birmingham City.
However, the absence of the other reserve-team players from Monday’s session does not necessarily mean they have been ruled out of Flick’s plans. The training groups could change in the coming days depending on the team’s needs and the progress of the preseason.
International Returns to Shape Barcelona’s Squad
Barcelona’s training schedule is currently being affected by the gradual return of international players, with the remaining absentees expected to return by Wednesday at the latest. Flick will then have a more complete squad at his disposal ahead of the new season.
The 18-year-old Hamza Abdelkarim joined Barcelona during the January transfer window from Egyptian club Al Ahly on loan, beginning a new chapter in his career at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
With his continued presence in first-team training, the Egyptian striker is moving closer to an important opportunity to prove himself to Flick, especially as the coming days could play a key role in determining the group Barcelona will rely on at the start of the season.
