Zamalek will launch their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Al Ittihad Alexandria on Friday evening at Cairo International Stadium, facing an early test as the defending champions begin their quest to retain the title.

Head coach Moatamed Gamal is expected to rely on the players who are currently ready for the season opener, with several absences and a few selection decisions still under discussion. Palestinian striker Oday Dabbagh is set to lead the attacking line in the team's first official match of the new campaign.

Dabbagh Leads the Front Three

Mohamed Awad is expected to start in goal despite competition from Mahdi Soliman, while the defensive line is likely to include Omar Gaber, Mahmoud Hamdy El Wensh, Mohamed Ismail and Mahmoud Bentayg.

In midfield, Ahmed Fatouh and Mohamed Shehata are expected to feature, although reports differ over the third midfielder, with either Mohamed El Sayed or Adam Kaied tipped for a starting role.

Up front, Dabbagh is expected to be joined by Ahmed Sherif and Ahmed Abdel Rahim Esho. The coaching staff will be looking for an energetic attacking display and a winning start as Zamalek begin their title defense.

Absences Test Gamal's Options

Zamalek will enter the match without several players. Mohamed Ibrahim continues his recovery program, while Hossam Ashraf is unavailable due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards.

There are also differing reports regarding Abdallah El Said and Chico Banza. Some sources suggest they could be available on the bench, while others indicate they are not ready to start after joining preparations late.

Brazilian player Juan Bezerra is also absent as his situation with the club remains unresolved and he has yet to return to Cairo. Those absences leave Gamal with important decisions at the start of a season in which Zamalek are targeting another league title while also aiming to compete strongly in the CAF Champions League.

The match kicks off at 8:00 PM Cairo time, with Zamalek hoping to send an early message in their title defense, while Al Ittihad Alexandria will look to spoil the champions' opening night and leave Cairo with a positive result.
