“Lail” Joins Salah Family as Egypt Captain Welcomes Third Child and First Son

Egypt captain and Trabzonspor star Mohamed Salah is enjoying a special family moment after welcoming his third child and his first son, following the birth of his two daughters, Makka and Kayan.
Salah and his family named the newborn “Layl,” a name that quickly attracted attention after it was revealed on social media. Fans in Egypt and abroad sent thousands of congratulations to the Egyptian star and his family.
The happy occasion comes at the start of a new chapter in Salah’s football career, as he plays his first season with Trabzonspor in Turkey after spending many successful years with Liverpool in England.
Joy Over Baby “Layl”
Salah’s sister, Rabab Salah, revealed the name of the new baby through a social media post in which she celebrated the arrival of “Layl Mohamed Salah” to the family.
Layl is the third child of Mohamed Salah and his wife Magi Sadeq. The couple welcomed their eldest daughter Makka in October 2014 and their second daughter Kayan in February 2020 before welcoming their first son in September 2026.
Salah had previously spoken about how, when he was younger, he had hoped to have a son one day. He later explained that this was no longer important to him after becoming a father to his two daughters, stressing that what mattered most was allowing his children to choose their own paths in life without pressure.
Years after those comments, Salah has now welcomed his first son, adding another special moment to his family life alongside Makka and Kayan.
Sudden Trip After the Match
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan was among the first to reveal the reason behind Salah’s trip after the team’s Turkish league match against Amedspor, explaining that the Egyptian star left Turkey because of the birth of his new baby.
Doğan said that he travelled after the match alongside Salah and Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, before revealing that both players had received happy family news. Salah welcomed a baby boy, while Onana became the father of twins.
The comments also explained why Salah and Onana had been seen travelling shortly after the match, after a picture of the two players on a plane raised questions among Trabzonspor supporters.
The arrival of Salah’s new baby comes during another major change in his life, as he begins a different challenge with Trabzonspor following a long and successful spell in English football that established him as one of the biggest names in the game.
The Egypt captain is therefore starting a new chapter both on and off the pitch. While taking on a new football challenge in Turkey, Salah has also welcomed a new member to his family and is now the father of three children: Makka, Kayan and Layl.
Fans reacted warmly to the news, particularly after the newborn’s name was revealed, with many sending congratulations and good wishes to Salah and his family.
