Zamalek head coach Moatamed Gamal is considering reshuffling his lineup ahead of the Egyptian Premier League second-round clash against National Bank, as the White Knights look to respond after dropping two points in their opening game following a goalless draw with Al Ittihad Alexandria.

Attention is now turning to Zamalek’s starting XI, with the coaching staff considering attacking changes in an attempt to improve the team’s efficiency in front of goal and secure their first victory of the new season.

Ashraf Up Front

Moatamed Gamal is considering handing Hossam Ashraf a starting role as Zamalek’s centre-forward in place of Nasser Mansi.

Ashraf returns to the coach’s options after serving a suspension for accumulated yellow cards. Mohamed Ibrahim is also available again after missing the opening league fixture for the same reason.

The potential switch is part of Gamal’s attempt to add more presence inside the penalty area and improve Zamalek’s conversion rate after the team failed to find the net against Al Ittihad.

Banza Nears Return

A second possible change could come on the left wing, with Angolan winger Chico Banza being considered for a starting place at the expense of Ahmed Sherif.

The coaching staff hopes Banza can provide a different attacking dimension from the flank as Gamal continues to search for the most effective combination ahead of the National Bank encounter.

Zamalek will hold their final training session on Tuesday evening at the subsidiary pitch of the Air Defense Stadium, after which the technical staff will select the final squad for the closed camp near Cairo International Stadium.

The White Knights face National Bank at Cairo International Stadium at 8:00 PM on Wednesday in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League, determined to put their opening-round setback behind them and claim their first three points of the campaign.
