Mohamed Salah responded to one of Trabzonspor’s most difficult European nights with a clear message to the club’s supporters, insisting that the Europa League elimination will not change his commitment to the project or the objective he has carried since joining the Turkish side: competing for victories and trophies.

The Egypt captain delivered his message after Trabzonspor suffered a 4-0 defeat against Hungarian side Ferencvaros in Budapest, ending their hopes of reaching the Europa League league phase following defeats in both legs of the tie.

Trabzonspor’s European campaign is not over, however, as their Europa League elimination sends them into the UEFA Conference League league phase, where they will have another opportunity to respond on the continental stage.

The Conference League draw handed the Turkish club a varied schedule against Germany’s Freiburg, Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade, Scotland’s Hearts, Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia, Czech side Jablonec and Finland’s Kuopion Palloseura.

Under the competition format, Trabzonspor will play six matches against six different opponents, with three fixtures at home and three away.
