Egypt continued its medal-winning run at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games as the women's table tennis team claimed gold in the team competition with an emphatic 3-0 victory over hosts Italy in the final.

Hana Goda and Dina Meshref powered Egypt to the top of the podium after an impressive campaign, finishing it with a dominant performance against the home side.

Three Wins Seal Gold

Goda opened the final with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Italy's Gaia Monfardini in a five-game contest, giving Egypt the perfect start.

Meshref then moved Egypt closer to the title by defeating Giorgia Piccolin 3-0 in the second match.

The Egyptian duo completed the job in the doubles contest, with Goda and Meshref winning in straight games to secure an overall 3-0 victory and clinch the gold medal on Italian soil.

The Egyptian pair defeated Algeria 3-0 in the quarter-finals before recording another 3-0 victory over Serbia in the semi-finals. They then completed their run with the same scoreline against Italy in the gold-medal match.

Goda and Meshref therefore finished the women's team competition without losing a single tie on their way to the title.

According to the latest medal tally reported across the sources, Egypt's total at the Mediterranean Games rose to 31 medals, including 10 golds, 10 silvers and 11 bronzes, keeping the Egyptian delegation among the leading nations and at the top of the Arab medal standings.

The 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games is being held in Taranto, Italy, through September 3, with 3,803 athletes from 26 countries taking part. Egypt is competing across 23 sports.

Egypt also boasts a rich history at the Mediterranean Games, ranking sixth on the all-time medal table with 620 medals: 156 gold, 209 silver and 255 bronze.
