Tottenham and Newcastle went into half-time with the score still goalless after neither side managed to find the breakthrough during the opening 45 minutes.

Marmoush remained on the pitch throughout the match in his first appearance for the London club, but Tottenham were unable to turn their opportunities into a positive result.

The game changed in the second half when Anthony Elanga opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 62nd minute before Yoane Wissa added a second goal ten minutes later to secure the victory.

The result gave Newcastle their first win of the season and moved them onto four points following their opening-round draw.
