Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has already started preparing for the next stage as the Pharaohs get closer to beginning their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The coaching staff is keeping a close eye on a large group of overseas-based players and dual nationals before making the final decisions over the squad for the upcoming camp.

Reports indicate that the technical staff has already identified several established overseas players for the September and October camps, while a number of young dual-national talents are also being monitored ahead of a possible call-up.

10 Overseas Players in Contention

Egypt's coaching staff has reportedly settled on 10 overseas-based players as part of its plans for the upcoming camps, with the national team preparing to face Angola and South Sudan in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

The group includes Mohamed Salah of Trabzonspor, Omar Marmoush of Tottenham, Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem, Al Riyadh winger Mahmoud Trezeguet and Al Wakrah midfielder Hamdy Fathy.

Al Ain defender Rami Rabia is also among the players in contention, alongside Nordsjaelland's Ibrahim Adel, Celtic's Haytham Hassan, Barcelona youngster Hamza Abdelkarim and Ludogorets defender Hossam Abdelmaguid.

The large number of overseas players reflects Hossam Hassan's desire to build a strong squad capable of making a positive start to the qualifying campaign, particularly with the opening two matches expected to play an important role in shaping the group.

Haytham Hassan's experience with Egypt has also encouraged the coaching staff to widen its search for Egyptian talents abroad and closely follow more players who are eligible to represent more than one country.

Hossam Hassan and his staff are also following four overseas-based dual-national players before announcing the final squad.

The four players are Mainz's Tebo Gabriel, Hertha Berlin's Selim Talab, Greuther Fürth's Omar Abdelmagid and Monaco's Amir Aboul-Ezz.

However, being monitored does not necessarily mean that all four will be included in the next camp, as the coaching staff has yet to make a final decision.

Hossam Hassan is expected to announce Egypt's final squad for the Angola and South Sudan matches on September 16, shortly after the conclusion of the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The fifth round is scheduled to finish on September 16, with the national team camp set to begin one day later on September 17.

Egypt will open their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola before facing South Sudan in the second round, with the Pharaohs aiming to make a strong start and collect as many points as possible from their opening fixtures.

The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, marking the first edition of the competition to be staged across three countries.
