Nour El-Din Zaki Wins Snatch Gold, Adds Silver at Mediterranean Games

Egypt continued its strong run at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, as weightlifter Nour El-Din Zaki claimed two medals in the men's 65kg competition, adding another important achievement to Egypt's medal tally.
Zaki delivered an impressive performance by first winning gold in the snatch before adding a silver medal shortly afterwards. His two-medal achievement gave the Egyptian delegation another boost in the closing stages of the Games.
Gold With a 133kg Lift
Nour El-Din Zaki controlled the 65kg snatch competition after successfully completing all three of his attempts and increasing the weight with every lift.
He opened with a successful 127kg attempt before lifting 131kg in his second try. Zaki then completed a 133kg lift in his third attempt to secure first place and the gold medal.
The Egyptian also benefited from mistakes by some of his main rivals in the decisive attempts, allowing him to finish on top of the standings and add another gold medal to Egypt's total.
Zaki's success did not end with the gold medal. He later added a silver medal, finishing his weightlifting campaign at the Games with two medals.
Egypt Reaches 38 Medals
Zaki's two medals helped Egypt raise its overall tally at the Mediterranean Games to 38 medals, including 12 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze.
Egypt remained sixth in the overall medal standings as competition continued, with the Egyptian delegation still looking to add more medals before the end of the Games.
Egypt is competing in a wide range of sports in this edition, including athletics, boxing, judo, karate, rowing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, wrestling and weightlifting, along with several other disciplines.
There are also high hopes for Egypt's weightlifting team, which includes several experienced international champions and promising young athletes, led by Olympic star Sara Samir and Karim Kahla.
The Mediterranean Games in Taranto will continue until September 3, with Egypt aiming to win more medals and improve its position in the overall standings before the competition comes to an end.
