Trabzonspor suffered their first Turkish league defeat of the season after losing 2-1 away to Amedspor on Monday in the third round of the 2026-27 campaign, despite another goal from Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.

Trabzonspor looked on course for a positive result after Salah gave them an early lead, but Amedspor equalized before halftime and then scored the winning goal in the 90th minute to complete the comeback.

Salah Keeps Scoring

Mohamed Salah started the game for Trabzonspor and needed only 11 minutes to open the scoring.

The Egyptian forward received a pass from Ernest Muci before finishing the move inside the penalty area to give Trabzonspor an early advantage.

Trabzonspor tried to protect their lead until halftime, but Amedspor were awarded a penalty in the fifth minute of added time.

Mbaye Diagne stepped up to take the penalty, but goalkeeper Andre Onana made the save. However, Yira Sor reacted quickly to the rebound and put the ball into the net to make it 1-1 before the break.

Trabzonspor pushed forward again in the second half as they looked for a second goal, while Amedspor stayed organized and continued to create danger at the other end.

Salah stayed on the pitch until the final whistle and once again played alongside Brazilian midfielder Fabinho, bringing the former Liverpool teammates together in Trabzonspor's starting lineup.

Late Goal Decides It

Just as the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Trabzonspor were hit by a late goal in the 90th minute.

Gift Orban met a cross inside the penalty area and sent the ball into the net to give Amedspor a 2-1 victory and all three points.

The win took Amedspor to six points from their opening three matches and moved them into fifth place in the Turkish league table.

Trabzonspor remained on four points and dropped to 11th place after suffering their first league defeat of the season.

Despite the result, Salah continued his impressive individual start with Trabzonspor. The Egyptian has now scored three goals in his first three Turkish league matches, finding the net in every round so far.

Salah had also been the key player in Trabzonspor's previous league match, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Basaksehir. He found the net again against Amedspor, but this time his goal was not enough to secure any points.

Trabzonspor started their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa before beating Basaksehir 2-1 in the second round and then losing 2-1 to Amedspor.

The league defeat also came during a difficult period for the club in Europe. Trabzonspor were eliminated from the Europa League qualifiers by Ferencvaros after losing the first leg 1-0 and the return match 4-0, sending them into the UEFA Conference League.

Trabzonspor started the match with Andre Onana in goal, with Stefan Savic, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Mustafa Eskihellac and Sydney Lopes Cabral in defense. Melih Kabasakal, Fabinho and Ernest Muci formed the midfield, while Mohamed Salah joined Noah Saviolo and Paul Onuachu in attack.
