Al Masry’s board has decided to make an early change to the team’s technical staff, ending Emad El Nahhas’ spell as head coach and choosing Ahmed Samy to take charge for the next stage of the season, despite the club’s strong start in the Egyptian Premier League.

The decision came after Al Masry suffered a 1-0 defeat against Pyramids in the third round of the league. It was the team’s first loss of the season after winning its opening two matches.

Al Masry started the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Smouha before beating Arab Contractors 3-2. The defeat to Pyramids then left the Port Said side with six points from its first three matches.

Although two wins from three games represented a positive start in terms of results, the club’s management was not fully satisfied with the team’s overall performances.

Performance Behind the Change

According to several reports, the defeat to Pyramids was not the only reason behind El Nahhas’ departure.

Al Masry had collected six points from its opening two matches, but the performances did not fully convince the board or supporters.

Concerns had already increased after the 3-2 victory over Arab Contractors. Despite securing all three points, the team’s performance was not considered convincing enough by the club’s management.

The defeat to Pyramids then accelerated the decision to make a coaching change and start a new technical phase early in the season.

Reports indicate that Al Masry reached an agreement with El Nahhas over his departure, while other sources reported that the club decided to end the work of the entire coaching staff and begin preparations for a new setup.

El Nahhas leaves after taking charge of Al Masry during the final stage of last season following the departure of Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki.

He later guided the Port Said club to the Egyptian League Cup title in June, returning Al Masry to the winners’ podium after a long wait.
