Egypt's Amina Orfi made the perfect start to the new squash season after winning the London Classic title with a strong victory over England's Georgina Kennedy in the final.

Orfi, the world No. 2, produced an impressive performance and won the match in straight games, showing that she is ready to compete strongly throughout the 2026-27 professional season.

The London Classic was the opening tournament of the new season. It was held in England from September 1 to 6, with $144,000 in prize money, and is classified as a Gold-level event.

Straight-Games Final Win

Amina Orfi controlled the final from the early stages and defeated Georgina Kennedy 3-0.

The Egyptian star took the opening game 11-6 before facing a tougher challenge in the second, which she also won 11-8.

Orfi then raised her level in the third game and gave Kennedy little chance to respond, winning 11-2 to complete the match without dropping a game.

The title is particularly important for Orfi as she entered the event as the defending champion, and once again proved her strength in London while starting the new season on top of the podium.

Strong Egyptian Presence

Orfi was not the only Egyptian competing in London, with a large group of Egyptian players taking part in the women's event, led by world No. 1 Hania El Hammamy.

Salma Hany, Farida Mohamed, Sana Ibrahim, Zeina Mickawy, Mariam Metwally, Nardine Garas, Hana Ramadan and Nour Heikal were also among the Egyptian participants.

Egypt was also well represented in the men's competition through players including Aly Abou Eleinen, Youssef Soliman, Mohamed Abouelghar, Karim El Torkey and Mostafa El Serty.

Orfi's victory gave Egyptian squash a strong start to the new season and once again showed that Egyptian players are expected to have a major presence in the battle for international titles.

By winning the final in convincing fashion, the world No. 2 has also sent an early message to her rivals, beginning the season with both a trophy and an impressive performance ahead of the competitions to come.
