Al Ahly are preparing for another Egyptian Premier League test as they travel to face Al Mokawloon Al Arab on Wednesday, September 9, in the fourth round of the 2026-27 season.

The match will kick off at 8:00 PM at Osman Ahmed Osman Stadium in Al Mokawloon’s home ground, with Al Ahly looking for a fourth straight league victory and another step toward the top of the table.

Al Ahly have collected all nine available points from their opening three matches. They started the season with a 3-2 win over Eastern Company Enppi, then defeated ZED 2-0 before beating Smouha 1-0 in the third round.

The Red Devils currently sit second in the league table with nine points, behind leaders Pyramids only on goal difference, making the Al Mokawloon clash important in the early battle for first place.

Strong Double Boost

Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta will have more options available for the match after the technical staff decided to include Emam Ashour in the squad.

Ashour’s return gives Al Ahly more strength and creativity in midfield. He can help move the ball forward, operate between the lines and provide attacking support around the penalty area.

At the same time, Akram Tawfik is getting closer to making his first appearance for Al Ahly this season, giving Ammouta another option for the match.

Tawfik can play in more than one role and offers strong physical and defensive qualities, which could help Al Ahly maintain balance during different stages of the game.

Ammouta has focused on concentration during the team’s latest training sessions, while preparing both the starting players and substitutes for a difficult match against an Al Mokawloon side hoping to use home advantage and stop Al Ahly’s winning run.

Possible Attacking Change

Ammouta is also considering a change in attack by giving Algerian forward Moncef Bakrar a place in the starting lineup.

Bakrar could replace Taher Mohamed Taher, who started Al Ahly’s first three league games, as the coaching staff look for fresh attacking ideas and a stronger presence in the final third.

The expected lineup could see Mostafa Shobeir start in goal, with Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Amr El Gazzar and Ahmed Nabil Koka forming the defensive line.

Although these names are currently the main candidates to start, the return of Emam Ashour and the availability of Akram Tawfik give Ammouta more choices, either from the first whistle or during the match.

Al Mokawloon, meanwhile, will be looking to stop Al Ahly’s perfect start and take advantage of playing at home to secure a positive result.
