Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has announced his squad for the September international camp as the Pharaohs prepare to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Egypt will face Angola at Cairo International Stadium on September 25 before travelling to Juba to play South Sudan on September 29 in the opening two rounds of the qualifiers.

The Pharaohs will then face South Africa in a friendly match in Cairo on October 4 as part of the team's international-break schedule.

The squad includes 24 players, with nine playing outside Egypt. Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush are among the main overseas names selected by Hossam Hassan.

New face and key absences

Al Ahly midfielder Ali Mahmoud is one of the main new names in the squad after receiving his first senior Egypt call-up following his recent performances at club level.

Goalkeeper Abdel Aziz El-Balouty also returns to the national team in the absence of the injured Mohamed El-Shenawy. El-Balouty had previously been called up to an Egypt camp in March 2025.

Egypt are also missing several players because of injury, including Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet and Yasser Ibrahim, while Amr El-Gazzar is unavailable after suffering a serious ACL injury.

Marwan Attia will miss the Angola match because of suspension but is expected to be available for the following game against South Sudan.

The nine overseas-based players in the squad are Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Hossam Abdelmaguid, Ibrahim Adel, Haitham Hassan, Hamdy Fathy, Rami Rabia and Hamza Abdelkarim.

Hossam Hassan continues to mix experienced players with younger options as he looks to increase the number of choices available to him during the qualifying campaign.

Egypt's camp begins on September 17 at the National Teams Centre in 6th of October City, where the players will start preparing for the opening two qualifying matches.

The Pharaohs host Angola on September 25 before the squad travels to South Sudan on September 27 ahead of the September 29 match in Juba.

After the two competitive games, Egypt will continue their international programme with a friendly against South Africa at Cairo International Stadium on October 4.

The coaching staff will be looking for a strong start to the qualifying campaign before Egypt return to action in November and later complete the remaining qualifiers in March 2027.

The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, with three countries sharing the hosting duties.

The September camp will also give Hossam Hassan an important chance to test new players and build stronger understanding between Egypt's local and overseas-based stars ahead of the next stages of the qualification campaign.
