Former Zamalek midfielder and current Al Ittihad Alexandria player Ahmed Hamdy has revealed new details about the final period of his time with the Cairo club, confirming that his unpaid financial dues have still not been settled despite several attempts to contact club officials.

Hamdy spoke about different parts of his dispute with Zamalek, including payments he says have been outstanding since his first season at the club, his absence from matches before his departure, and a disciplinary investigation that took place during his final period with the team.

His comments come after the end of a spell in which he played an important role in Zamalek's success, most notably in the CAF Confederation Cup, where he scored the goal that secured the trophy for the Egyptian side.

Dues Still Unpaid

Hamdy said that some of his financial dues date back to his first season at Zamalek and remain unpaid.

He explained that he remained willing to continue with the club until the final stages of his stay, but the situation eventually changed and he later moved to Al Ittihad Alexandria.

Before leaving, Hamdy expected to hold a meeting with club officials to settle his financial situation and agree on the remaining payments. However, administrative changes inside Zamalek took place before the matter was resolved.

After his departure, he tried to contact several people at the club in an attempt to find a solution, but according to Hamdy, he has not received a clear response so far. He also said that he is currently unsure who should be contacted to close the issue.

The midfielder believes that repeated financial problems do not reflect the size or popularity of Zamalek, a club with a major fan base and a strong name in Egyptian and African football.

He suggested that some of the current problems may be the result of administrative issues that have built up over previous years, stressing that Zamalek has enough resources and potential to operate at a much higher level.

Hamdy also addressed the period in which he stopped playing regularly for Zamalek before leaving the club.

He said he was not injured at the time, despite reports initially suggesting that an injury was the reason for his absence. Later, other reports claimed that he had been dropped for technical reasons.

The former Zamalek player also spoke about being referred for an internal investigation, saying he did not understand the reason behind the decision because he believed he had done nothing wrong.

According to Hamdy, the investigation ended without him being found responsible for any violation, while some individuals who were working at the club at the time later left their positions.

Despite the difficult end to his time at Zamalek, Hamdy made it clear that his view of the club and its supporters remains positive.

He highlighted the huge popularity he experienced during his time with the team and said Zamalek remains a major club with the ability to overcome its current problems.

Hamdy believes greater administrative and financial stability would allow the club to make better use of its popularity, resources and status.

His latest comments have once again brought the issue of unpaid dues to former players into focus, with his own case still unresolved as he continues to seek a clear way to settle the remaining payments with Zamalek.
