Nice claimed their first Ligue 1 victory of the season after beating Lille 2-1 in the fifth round of the competition, on a night that saw Egyptian defender Mohamed Abdelmonem make another start for the French side.

Abdelmonem continued to strengthen his position in Nice’s starting lineup as he played from the opening whistle and completed the full match, helping his team secure three important points after failing to win any of their opening four league games.

Nice made good use of their chances against Lille and earned an important victory over a team that had the opportunity to move closer to the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

Strong Start for Nice

Abdelmonem Keeps Impressing

The match also marked another important appearance for Mohamed Abdelmonem, who started for Nice for the fourth consecutive game.

Lille could have moved to the top of the standings with a victory, but Nice ended their strong start and collected three valuable points that could give the team momentum heading into the coming rounds.

Abdelmonem joined Nice from Egyptian giants Al Ahly during the summer transfer window in 2024.

The Egyptian international is under contract with the French club until June 2028 and will be looking to maintain his place in the starting lineup while continuing to deliver strong performances throughout the season.
