The Egypt U-18 women's handball team saw their dream of qualifying for the World Championship final in Romania come to an end after a thrilling 27-26 defeat against Spain, in a hard-fought match filled with rivalry and excitement until the final seconds.

Despite missing out on the title race, the Young Pharaohs exited the tournament with their heads held high after achieving a historic milestone by reaching the semifinals for the first time in the history of Egyptian women's handball, proving the growth of the sport and their ability to compete with the world's top teams.

A Loss by a One-Goal Margin... and a Match Worthy of the Final Four

The clash between Egypt and Spain began with a fierce struggle for control between both sides, exchanging dominance before the Spanish team ended the first half leading by a single goal at 13-12.

In the second half, the Egyptian team continued to fight and delivered a strong performance, staying in the game until the very last moments; however, Spain's experience ultimately settled the matchup by a single-goal difference to snatch the qualifying ticket to the final.

Despite missing out on the final, Egypt emerged from the semifinal with their heads held high after achieving the historic milestone of reaching the last four for the first time, with another opportunity still ahead to make history by winning bronze.

The Egyptian girls launched their tournament campaign in ideal fashion, topping their group in the first round with full points following three consecutive victories over Croatia (27-24), France (29-24), and Fiji with a massive scoreline of (83-17).

In the Main Round, the Egyptian national team maintained their brilliance by securing two valuable wins against South Korea (28-27) and Denmark (23-22), booking their spot among the tournament's top teams.

Then came the historic moment in the quarterfinals, when the Young Pharaohs succeeded in overcoming China with a score of 30-29, earning Egypt its first-ever qualification to the semifinals of the Women's Handball World Cup.

Although the title contention journey has come to an end, the Egyptian team still holds another opportunity to create history when they face Denmark in the third-place playoff to compete for the bronze medal, aiming to capture the first global medal in the history of Egyptian women's handball.
