Watch: Salah Opens His Trabzonspor Account With a Brace in Win Over Basaksehir

Mohamed Salah needed little time to make his first major scoring impact for Trabzonspor, emerging as the hero in a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday in the second round of the 2026-27 Turkish league season.
Salah started the match and immediately looked dangerous in the final third before turning his lively opening into his first official goal for the Turkish club.
Salah Strikes First
The Egyptian star took advantage of confusion inside the Basaksehir penalty area following a cross, reaching the loose ball and sending his effort toward goal. Despite a defensive attempt to clear it, the ball had already crossed the line.
VAR was used to confirm the goal, giving Trabzonspor the lead and allowing Salah to celebrate his first strike in the club's colors.
Basaksehir responded soon afterwards when they were awarded a penalty following a video review. Eldor Shomurodov converted from the spot to level the score and bring the visitors back into the contest.
Salah, however, was not finished. A sharp attacking combination with Ernest Muci opened the way for the Egyptian to move into the penalty area and fire home his second goal, restoring Trabzonspor's advantage.
Brace Seals It
Basaksehir pushed for another equalizer during the closing stages, but Trabzonspor held firm to secure all three points.
The brace gave Salah the perfect way to open his scoring account for the club, with the Egyptian responsible for both Trabzonspor goals as he inspired their first league victory of the season.
Trabzonspor moved onto four points from their opening two matches and climbed to third place in the Turkish league standings, while Basaksehir remained on three points.
Salah's early scoring breakthrough also provides a major boost at the start of his new chapter in Turkey, with the Egyptian star already showing his ability to decide tight matches and make the difference when Trabzonspor need him most.
