Watch: Omar El-Ramly Wins -100kg Judo Gold as Egypt Secure 11th Gold at Mediterranean Games

Egypt continued its medal-winning run at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games as national judo team star Omar El-Ramly claimed the gold medal in the men’s under-100kg category following an impressive campaign capped by victory over Serbia’s Milan Bulaja in the final.
El-Ramly sealed the decisive contest with a 10-0 victory to reach the top of the podium and add another gold medal to Egypt’s tally, overcoming a Serbian opponent with an impressive record at European and world youth level.
Strong Road to Gold
The Egyptian judoka opened his campaign with an ippon victory over Italy’s Gian Carletti before producing another dominant performance against Algeria’s Rayan Benatia to continue his march toward the medal rounds.
El-Ramly maintained that momentum in the decisive stages of the competition and completed his run with victory over Milan Bulaja, securing another major achievement for Egyptian judo at the Mediterranean Games.
Egypt Reaches 33 Medals
El-Ramly’s gold took Egypt’s overall medal tally at Taranto 2026 to 33, consisting of 11 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals.
Egypt is competing across 23 sports at the Games, including judo, wrestling, fencing, swimming, weightlifting, table tennis, volleyball, 3x3 basketball and shooting, among several other disciplines.
El-Ramly’s triumph further strengthened Egypt’s presence on the podium in Taranto, with the Egyptian delegation continuing its campaign in pursuit of more medals during the remaining events.
