After 10 Seasons and an NBA Title, Jaylen Brown Leaves Boston for Rival 76ers
One of the NBA's most successful partnerships has come to an end after the Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to Eastern Conference rivals the Philadelphia 76ers in one of the biggest blockbuster deals of the offseason.
The move brings Brown's decade-long stay in Boston to a close after 10 seasons, during which he helped the Celtics win the 2024 NBA championship and earned NBA Finals MVP honors.
Philadelphia acquired Brown in exchange for veteran forward Paul George, along with two first-round draft picks and two second-round picks, completing a deal that has sent shockwaves across the league.
A New Chapter
Brown leaves Boston as one of the franchise's modern greats after developing from the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft into a multiple-time All-Star and one of the league's premier two-way players.
His partnership with Jayson Tatum defined an era for the Celtics, helping the team become one of the NBA's most consistent championship contenders over the past decade.
Philadelphia's Championship Push
For the 76ers, the trade signals an all-in approach to chasing an NBA championship.
Brown is expected to form a new star trio alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, giving Philadelphia another elite scorer and defender as the franchise looks to establish itself as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, Boston receives veteran star Paul George and valuable draft capital as it begins reshaping its roster for the future.
One of the Biggest Trades of the Year
The deal ranks among the biggest moves of the NBA offseason, not only because of Brown's status as one of the league's top players, but also because it sends him to one of Boston's fiercest rivals.
After 10 seasons, an NBA championship and countless memorable moments in Celtics green, Brown now begins a new chapter in Philadelphia in a move that could reshape the balance of power in the Eastern Conference for years to come.
