Pyramids have officially completed the signing of Egyptian defender Eiad El Askalany on a season-long loan from Russian club FC Rostov, with an option to make the move permanent.

Transfer Details

The agreement sees El Askalany join Pyramids on a one-season loan, with the club securing an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the loan spell if the defender meets expectations.

The 21-year-old is considered a valuable addition thanks to his versatility, as he is capable of playing both as a centre-back and a left-back, giving head coach Rulani Mokwena greater tactical flexibility throughout the campaign.

El Askalany began his football journey with Ismaily SC before earning a move to FC Rostov in 2024. During his time in Russia, he featured in several official matches and gained valuable experience despite suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. After completing his rehabilitation, he is now fully fit and ready to begin a new chapter in his career.

The defender has also represented Egypt at youth and Olympic levels, establishing himself as one of the country's most promising young defensive talents.

Pyramids' Defence

The signing comes as Pyramids reshape their defensive unit following the departure of veteran defender Ali Gabr, with the club looking to inject youth and quality into the back line ahead of a demanding season.

El Askalany had already joined the team's training sessions and travelled with the squad to its pre-season training camp in Turkey before the transfer was officially announced, confirming that all formalities had been completed.

His arrival adds valuable depth to Pyramids' defence as the club prepares for another season of Egyptian Premier League and CAF Champions League football.
