Official: Egypt to Host African Beach Volleyball Championship Qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Egypt has officially secured the right to host and organize the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship for both men and women, in a major continental event that carries exceptional importance as a key stage on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 17 to 23, with top African national teams expected to compete in a high-stakes battle that combines the pursuit of the continental title with the ambition of taking a major step toward the Olympic dream.
African Competition with Olympic Ambitions
The championship carries added significance after being designated as part of the African qualifying process for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, giving the matches a different level of intensity and making every contest important for teams aiming to secure a place at the world’s biggest sporting event.
The African Volleyball Confederation is expected to announce the list of participating teams and further organizational details in the coming days, as Egypt prepares to take center stage in African beach volleyball throughout August.
Egypt Continues to Strengthen Its Hosting Credentials
Hosting the championship comes as part of Egypt’s growing presence in organizing major African sporting events, particularly after recently hosting the African U18 Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Championships in Alexandria. The latest event reflects continued confidence in Egypt’s ability to stage major tournaments and provide the right environment for top-level continental competition.
Between the sand courts and the ambitions of reaching Los Angeles, Egypt is preparing for a week packed with intense action. The African title will not be the only prize at stake, as attention will also turn toward the opening steps of the journey to the 2028 Olympic Games.
