After Suffering a Thigh Bruise.. Latest Updates on Ahmed Fattouh’s Condition Ahead of Al Ahly Clash

Ahmed Fattouh's injury has raised questions about his availability for upcoming matches after the Egypt and Zamalek left-back was forced to leave the field during Egypt's 5-0 victory over South Sudan in the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Fattouh suffered the injury during the second half of the match, played on Tuesday, September 29, at Juba Stadium. He felt pain in his thigh and was unable to continue, prompting Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan to replace him with Karim Hafez in the 53rd minute.
Despite Egypt's impressive victory, Fattouh's early departure raised concerns about the seriousness of his injury and how long he might be unavailable, particularly with important matches approaching for both Egypt and Zamalek.
Thigh Bruise
Egypt's medical staff confirmed that the initial examination showed Fattouh had suffered a thigh muscle bruise, which forced him to leave the pitch shortly after the second half began.
The national team explained that the defender would undergo further medical examinations to assess the injury more accurately and determine how much recovery time he might need before returning to normal training.
Meanwhile, Zamalek's medical staff received reassuring information after contacting Egypt's national team officials to check on the player's condition. They were informed that the injury was a minor thigh bruise.
The incident occurred during an impressive attacking performance by Egypt. Mostafa Abdel Raouf Ziko scored once, Omar Marmoush added two goals, while Ibrahim Adel and Hamza Abdelkarim completed the five-goal victory.
The result took Egypt to four points following their goalless draw against Angola in the opening round, securing their first victory of the qualifying campaign and moving them temporarily to the top of their group.
Derby Availability
Fattouh's injury comes ahead of Zamalek's important meeting with Al Ahly on October 11 in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League, making his fitness a key concern for the club.
Reports citing sources within Zamalek have suggested that the injury is not serious and that Fattouh may need only a few days of rest before returning to full team training. These reports also indicate that he is expected to be available for the upcoming derby.
However, his participation will ultimately depend on his recovery, response to treatment, and medical assessment. Zamalek's coaching staff will want to avoid rushing him back before he is fully fit.
At international level, Egypt are preparing to face South Africa in a friendly match on October 4 at Cairo Stadium, which will conclude their current training camp. Fattouh's availability for that fixture will depend on his physical condition.
Zamalek will now monitor the defender's recovery in the coming days, hoping to have him ready for the highly anticipated meeting with Al Ahly, while Egypt look to build on the positives from their convincing victory in Juba.
