After Semifinal Success, Al Ahly and Zamalek Set Up Fierce Battle for African Handball Title

All eyes will be on Angola as Egyptian rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek prepare to face each other in the final of the African Men's Handball Club Championship.
Both teams secured their places in the final after impressive victories in the semifinals.
The all-Egyptian final will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 8:00 PM Cairo time.
Both clubs will be looking to win the African title and add another trophy to their history in what promises to be an exciting match.
Al Ahly Crush Kinshasa
Al Ahly booked their place in the final with an impressive 38-20 victory over DR Congo's Kinshasa in the semifinals, held in Luanda, Angola.
The Egyptian side controlled the match from the opening minutes and finished the first half with a comfortable 19-11 lead.
Al Ahly continued their strong performance after the break, increasing the gap before securing a convincing victory.
Several Al Ahly players delivered excellent performances, including Mohamed Emad "Oka," Mahmoud Hussein "Shika," and Omar Samy Dahroug, who played important roles in helping their team reach the final.
Al Ahly's journey to the final has been impressive.
The team won all five of its group-stage matches, starting with a victory over Angola's Interclube, followed by wins against Benin's Flowers, Angola's Petro Atletico, Ivory Coast's Renaissance, and Rwanda's APR.
Al Ahly will enter the final with high confidence after recently winning the bronze medal at the IHF Club World Championship, where they defeated Zamalek 30-25 in the third-place match.
That recent result adds even more excitement to the upcoming African final, as the two Egyptian rivals prepare for another important meeting.
Zamalek Set Up Al Ahly Clash
Meanwhile, Zamalek secured their place in the final after an impressive 35-21 victory over Angola's Petro Atletico in the semifinals.
Zamalek made a strong start and controlled the game from the beginning, taking a 21-12 lead into halftime.
The Egyptian side maintained its advantage in the second half and completed a comfortable 14-goal victory.
Zamalek will be hoping to continue their successful run in the tournament, especially given their remarkable history in African handball.
The White Knights are the most successful club in the competition's history, having won the championship 12 times.
They are now aiming to secure their 13th title and strengthen their position at the top of the tournament's all-time winners list.
The final also carries special importance for Zamalek, who will be looking to win another African trophy and respond to their recent defeat against Al Ahly in the Club World Championship bronze medal match.
On the other hand, Al Ahly are determined to complete their successful African campaign by lifting the trophy after delivering strong performances throughout the competition.
Both teams have experienced players capable of making the difference in major matches, which makes the upcoming final an exciting contest.
The match will take place on Wednesday at 8:00 PM Cairo time, with Egyptian handball fans preparing for another major clash between the country's biggest rivals.
One thing is already certain: the African trophy will return to Egypt.
However, the biggest question remains: will Al Ahly continue their winning run, or will Zamalek claim their record-extending 13th African title?
