Omar Fayed Open to January Al Ahly Move From Frosinone: Report

Al Ahly are continuing their search for a new central defender ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, as Moroccan head coach Hussein Ammouta looks to strengthen his team's defensive options for the remainder of the season.
Omar Fayed, the Egyptian international currently playing for Italian club Frosinone, has emerged as one of the leading candidates to join the Cairo giants.
The young defender has attracted Al Ahly's attention because of his technical abilities, age, and experience in European football, which could make him a valuable addition to the squad.
Al Ahly's need for defensive reinforcements has become more important due to uncertainty surrounding Yasser Ibrahim's contract renewal and the continued absence of Amr El Gazzar, who is recovering from a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Fayed Open to Move
According to recent reports, Omar Fayed is open to joining Al Ahly during the January transfer window, giving the Egyptian club a positive sign as they consider their defensive transfer options.
A club source, quoted by El Watan Sport, confirmed that Fayed is among the defenders being considered.
However, no final agreement has been reached with either the player or his Italian club.
Fayed's contract with Frosinone runs until June 2030, meaning Al Ahly would need to negotiate directly with the Italian side before completing any potential transfer.
The Egyptian club reportedly values Fayed's potential for further development, especially after gaining experience abroad at a young age.
His time in European football could also help him deal with the pressure and expectations of playing for one of Africa's biggest clubs.
Ammouta Holds the Key
Although Omar Fayed is among Al Ahly's leading defensive targets, the final decision will depend on head coach Hussein Ammouta and his assessment of the squad's needs.
The club is also considering several other defenders, including Egyptian international Hossam Abdelmaguid, who currently plays for Bulgarian side Ludogorets.
Al Ahly's management wants to carefully evaluate the available options before deciding which player would provide the strongest addition to the team's defense.
Three main factors could determine whether Fayed completes a January move: Ammouta's approval, an agreement with Frosinone over the transfer terms, and the player's willingness to join.
The third factor appears encouraging, as reports suggest that Fayed would welcome the opportunity to represent Al Ahly.
For now, the Egyptian defender remains a serious option rather than a confirmed signing.
The coming weeks could reveal whether Al Ahly decide to move forward with negotiations or pursue another defensive target.
