Egypt Suffer 6–0 Defeat to Morocco in Futsal AFCON Semi-Final

Egypt's national futsal team suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against Morocco in the semifinals of the 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco, ending the Pharaohs' hopes of competing for the continental title.
Egypt struggled to stop the hosts, who scored six unanswered goals to secure their place in the final.
The Egyptian team must now compete in the third-place playoff as it looks to finish the tournament on a positive note.
Algeria Clash
Egypt will face Algeria in the third-place playoff after the Algerian team suffered a 3-2 defeat against Angola in the other semifinal.
Meanwhile, Morocco will take on Angola in the final, with both teams hoping to win the African title after successfully advancing through the semifinals.
Egypt will aim to recover from its heavy defeat against Morocco and return to winning ways against Algeria.
A victory would secure third place and give the team a positive ending to its campaign after missing out on the final.
Egypt's Campaign
Egypt made an impressive start to the tournament with a convincing 8-0 victory over Tanzania in its opening match, before continuing its strong form with another win against Mozambique.
The Pharaohs collected six points from their first two matches, securing a place in the semifinals before their final group-stage match against Angola.
However, their strong start was not enough to keep their title hopes alive, as Morocco handed Egypt a heavy defeat in the semifinals and ended its hopes of reaching the final.
Egypt has a proud history in the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, having won the continental championship three times, in 1996, 2000 and 2004.
Egyptian fans continue to hope that the national team can return to the top of African futsal.
The upcoming match against Algeria will be Egypt's final opportunity to finish the tournament with a positive result before reviewing its performance, addressing mistakes and preparing for future competitions.
