Al Masry SC have decided to make a fresh start this season after officially announcing the departure of head coach Ahmed Samy and his coaching staff by mutual agreement.

The decision came after a short and difficult period in which the team failed to achieve the results expected by its supporters.

The announcement was made on Friday, October 30, 2026, following a disappointing run in the Egyptian Premier League.

Samy was unable to guide Al Masry to a single league victory during his time in charge, leading the club's management to search for a new coach who could help the team return to winning ways.

In an official statement, Al Masry confirmed that the agreement with Samy and his coaching staff had ended by mutual consent.

The club also thanked them for their work and wished them success in their future careers.

Ahmed Samy's 58-Day Spell Ends Without a Win

Ahmed Samy's time at Al Masry lasted less than two months.

He was appointed on September 2, replacing Emad El Nahhas, before leaving the club on October 30, just 58 days after taking charge.

During his time as head coach, Al Masry played five Egyptian Premier League matches without recording a victory.

The team earned three draws against Al Qanah, Abu Qir Fertilizers, and National Bank of Egypt, while suffering defeats against Petrojet and Al Ittihad Alexandria.

These results left Al Masry with only three points from a possible 15.

The team scored four goals and conceded seven, showing the difficulties it faced during Samy's short spell.

The poor results increased pressure on the coaching staff, especially as Al Masry dropped to 11th place in the league standings with nine points after eight rounds.

Following a meeting between club officials and Samy to discuss the team's future, both sides agreed to end their relationship peacefully.

The agreement also included settling the coach's financial payments, bringing his time at the club to an end without the league victory supporters had been waiting for.

Nabil Kouki Nears Return to Turn Al Masry's Season Around

While confirming Ahmed Samy's departure, Al Masry's management moved quickly to find his replacement.

The club reached an agreement with Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki, who is now close to returning for another spell in charge of the Port Said side.

Kouki is already familiar with Al Masry, having previously managed the team.

His knowledge of the club and its environment played an important role in the management's decision to bring him back.

The Tunisian coach recently left CS Sfaxien and has since held talks with Al Masry officials, who believe his previous experience could help improve the team's performances and results.

Kouki is expected to arrive in Port Said on Saturday, October 31, to complete the remaining steps before taking charge and selecting his coaching staff.

An official announcement is expected once the final details of the agreement have been completed.

The Tunisian coach could face an early challenge as Al Masry prepare to meet Petrojet on Wednesday, November 4, in the second round of the Egyptian League Cup group stage.

The match could provide the new coaching staff with an opportunity to begin improving the team's performances and rebuilding confidence after a difficult run of results.

Al Masry supporters hope Kouki's return will bring greater stability and help the club move up the Egyptian Premier League table.

With Ahmed Samy's short spell now over and Nabil Kouki close to returning, Al Masry are entering another important period of the season.

The biggest question is whether the Tunisian coach can turn things around and guide the team back to winning ways.
