Watch: Milwaukee Brewers Beat Rays to Win First World Series Title

The Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series title on Wednesday, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 in Game 5 at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, Florida.
Milwaukee clinched the best-of-seven final by four games to one, completing a memorable return to Major League Baseball’s championship series after a 44-year absence.
How Milwaukee Sealed the Title
Starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski led the way, allowing just two hits over five and two-thirds scoreless innings before leaving with a calf cramp.
Rookie Cooper Pratt drove in two runs, while William Contreras and David Hamilton also delivered run-scoring hits.
Milwaukee built a 4–0 lead before Tampa Bay scored in the ninth inning, with Trevor Megill securing the final out to spark the celebrations.
The Brewers had won the opening three games before the Rays delayed their celebrations with a 4–3 victory over 12 innings in Game 4.
Milwaukee needed only one more night to finish the job.
Contreras Named World Series MVP
William Contreras received the Most Valuable Player award after collecting eight hits and driving in four runs across the five games.
The catcher also made a significant defensive contribution, throwing out four runners attempting to steal bases and helping contain an important part of Tampa Bay’s attacking game.
A Historic Season for Milwaukee
The championship capped a dominant campaign.
Milwaukee led MLB with 103 regular-season wins, then won 11 of their 13 play-off games.
Their route to the final included eliminating San Diego and sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Brewers’ only previous World Series appearance ended in defeat against the St Louis Cardinals in 1982.
This time, they returned home as champions.
Their success also brought the city its first World Series title since 1957, when the Milwaukee Braves lifted the trophy.
