Sports Ministry Confirms Zamalek’s Club Africain Clash at Cairo Stadium

Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has ended the uncertainty surrounding the venue for Zamalek’s upcoming match against Tunisia’s Club Africain in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The ministry confirmed that the match will take place at Cairo International Stadium on November 28, 2026, despite earlier concerns about planned maintenance work at the venue.
The decision gives Zamalek a clear plan for the important African fixture after questions were raised about whether the stadium would be available.
Official Decision Ends Stadium Uncertainty
Mohamed El-Shazly, spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, confirmed that Zamalek will face Club Africain at Cairo International Stadium as scheduled.
El-Shazly explained that the ministry is working to support Egyptian clubs competing in African tournaments and provide the necessary conditions for their continental matches.
He stressed that the government and the ministry are committed to helping Egyptian teams as they represent the country in African competitions.
The announcement ends concerns about a possible venue change and allows Zamalek’s coaching staff to continue preparing for the game without uncertainty over the stadium.
Maintenance Work to Begin After Matches
El-Shazly also explained that officials have been instructed to coordinate with the company responsible for maintaining Cairo International Stadium.
The goal is to arrange the maintenance schedule without affecting Zamalek’s matches or other important African fixtures involving Egyptian clubs.
According to the ministry, maintenance work will begin after the international break and the scheduled continental matches involving Egyptian teams.
This arrangement ensures that Cairo International Stadium remains available for Zamalek’s meeting with Club Africain on November 28.
With the stadium issue now settled, Zamalek can focus on preparing for the match and making the most of playing at its familiar home venue.
The Egyptian side will aim to secure a positive result against Club Africain and strengthen its position in the CAF Champions League group stage.
