Vozinha's Impressive Performances Bring Him Closer to Inter Miami and a Place Alongside Messi

Cape Verde veteran goalkeeper Vozinha has emerged as one of the standout stars of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after delivering a series of remarkable performances against some of the tournament's strongest teams, most notably Argentina led by Lionel Messi. Now, he is on the verge of completing a move to Inter Miami.
Beckham Speeds Up the Deal
According to multiple reports, Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham was highly impressed by the 40-year-old goalkeeper's performances, particularly in Cape Verde's dramatic Round of 16 clash against Argentina, where the defending champions secured a 3-2 extra-time victory despite Vozinha producing a string of outstanding saves.
Reports suggest Beckham attended the match in person and urged the club to move quickly to complete the signing, taking advantage of the fact that Vozinha became a free agent after his contract with Portuguese side Chaves expired. However, Inter Miami faces competition from several other clubs following the goalkeeper's impressive World Cup campaign.
The MLS side believes signing Vozinha would strengthen the squad both on the pitch and from a commercial standpoint, given his vast experience and the global attention he has attracted during the tournament.
Messi Praises Cape Verde Goalkeeper
Throughout Cape Verde's memorable World Cup run, Vozinha was one of the team's standout performers, making a series of crucial saves, including eight against Argentina alone, earning widespread praise from fans and the international media.
The goalkeeper later revealed that Messi approached him after the match, congratulated him on his performance, and told him that the people of Cape Verde should be proud of what he had accomplished. Vozinha described the exchange as one of the most unforgettable moments of his career.
If the transfer is finalized, the goalkeeper who frustrated Messi throughout their World Cup encounter will soon swap opponents for teammates, joining the Argentine superstar at Inter Miami in what could become one of the club's most eye-catching signings following the tournament.
