Trabzonspor have started a new chapter after reaching a mutual agreement with head coach Fatih Tekke to end his time in charge, following a run of results that increased the pressure on the technical staff.

The Turkish club moved quickly after Tekke's departure, bringing back former coach Hüseyin Çimşir to take temporary charge of the team while the board continues its search for a permanent head coach.

The change comes at an important stage of the season, with Egyptian international Mohamed Salah among Trabzonspor's players and the club looking to regain stability after a difficult spell in both domestic and European competitions.

End of the Tekke era

The final decision came after Trabzonspor suffered a 2-1 defeat against Amed Sportif in the Turkish league, despite Mohamed Salah giving his side an early lead.

That result added more pressure to Tekke after a difficult European period, which included a heavy 4-0 defeat against Hungarian side Ferencváros in the second leg of their European qualifying tie.

Tekke had already offered to resign after the European defeat, but Trabzonspor rejected his resignation at the time and decided to continue supporting the coach in the hope that the team could quickly improve its results.

The situation changed following the loss to Amed Sportif.

Trabzonspor vice-president Serkan Kılıç later met with Tekke to discuss the team's current position, recent performances and the plans required for the next stage of the season.

After those talks, both sides agreed that ending their working relationship was the best decision for the club, with Trabzonspor preparing to create a new plan for the future.

Despite his departure, the club highlighted the positive work Tekke had done during approximately 18 months in charge.

Trabzonspor credited him with helping develop several players and contributing to important sporting and financial gains during his time at the club.

One of the biggest achievements of his spell was winning the Turkish Cup, an accomplishment that allowed Tekke to add another important chapter to his history with Trabzonspor.

The club also thanked him for his work and commitment, making it clear that his departure would not change the respect he continues to have within Trabzonspor.

Çimşir takes interim charge

After confirming Tekke's exit, Trabzonspor moved quickly to avoid leaving the team without a coach and appointed Hüseyin Çimşir on an interim basis.

Çimşir already knows the club well from his previous experience with Trabzonspor, making him a practical short-term choice while the board evaluates candidates for the permanent position.

He is expected to prepare and lead the team for the upcoming match against Gençlerbirliği on Sunday, September 6.

At the same time, Trabzonspor's management will continue working on the appointment of a new head coach who can lead the team for the longer term.

The coaching change also begins a new period for Mohamed Salah and his teammates, who will be looking for a quick response after their European disappointment and recent league results.

Trabzonspor hope the temporary appointment can bring calm and stability to the squad while giving the board enough time to make the right decision over Tekke's permanent successor.

The identity of the next head coach is now one of the biggest questions surrounding the club.

Before that decision is made, the match against Gençlerbirliği will provide the first test of Trabzonspor's post-Tekke era and the beginning of their short-term spell under Hüseyin Çimşir.
