Brazilian winger Juan Bezerra’s situation with Zamalek appears close to reaching its final stage after the Egyptian club approved his trip to the UAE for a medical examination ahead of a potential move to Shabab Al Ahli.

The deal could eventually be worth up to $7 million and may bring an end to several weeks of tension between the player and Zamalek.

The dispute began when Bezerra stayed away from the team’s preseason training as he pushed for a move to the Emirati club and expressed his desire to start a new chapter in his career.

Zamalek initially refused to discuss his departure while he remained away from the team. Club officials insisted that the player return to Cairo before negotiations over any offer could move forward, while also stressing that the club’s financial and contractual rights had to be protected.

Bezerra later returned to Cairo and held talks with Zamalek officials in the presence of his father and agent. Those meetings opened the door to a possible solution, with the club eventually agreeing to consider his departure under its own conditions.

Medical First

Zamalek has now allowed Bezerra to travel to Dubai to undergo his medical examination with Shabab Al Ahli.

However, the transfer has not yet been officially completed, and final contracts have not been announced.

If the Brazilian passes the medical examination, the two clubs are expected to complete the remaining procedures and finalize the agreement before formally announcing the transfer.

Zamalek’s position became more flexible after Bezerra returned to Cairo and followed the steps requested by the club.

The player also issued an apology to Zamalek’s management, coaching staff, teammates and supporters over the situation surrounding his absence.

In his apology, Bezerra explained that he wanted to leave because he believed the move represented an important opportunity in his career and one that might not come again.

His apology, however, did not prevent Zamalek from taking disciplinary action.

The club imposed a $100,000 fine on the Brazilian for being absent without permission, with Zamalek officials stressing that the punishment was necessary to maintain discipline and equal treatment within the squad.

Bezerra’s expected departure is also important for Zamalek from a financial point of view.

The club has been dealing with financial obligations and delayed payments to first-team players, making the possible income from the transfer particularly valuable.

According to the reported structure of the agreement, the total value of the deal could rise to around $7 million, although approximately $5 million is understood to be guaranteed.

Zamalek is expected to receive $3 million as an initial payment, followed by another $1 million and a further $1 million according to the agreed payment schedule.

The rest of the potential value would come through bonuses and additional clauses linked to the deal.

Zamalek has also pushed to retain a 20% share of any future resale of Bezerra, while seeking additional clauses to protect the club financially if the player later returns to Egyptian football.

The initial payment could be especially important for Zamalek because the club plans to use fresh funds to deal with part of the outstanding payments owed to first-team players.

There has been frustration inside the squad during the recent period because of delayed financial dues, and the club hopes the Bezerra deal can provide immediate liquidity and reduce some of that pressure.

There were different opinions inside Zamalek over how to deal with the Brazilian.

Some wanted the club to keep the player and reject his attempt to leave after his absence from training, while others believed selling him for a significant fee would provide a better sporting and financial solution.

Eventually, Zamalek moved toward the second option, but only after Bezerra returned to Cairo, apologized, accepted his punishment and agreed to the club’s conditions.

A situation that began as a difficult dispute could therefore end with benefits for both sides: Bezerra could secure his desired move to the UAE, while Zamalek could receive a significant financial return.

The medical examination remains the key final step.

If Bezerra passes the tests and the remaining contractual procedures are completed, his move to Shabab Al Ahli could finally be officially announced, bringing an end to weeks of negotiations and controversy.
