Pyramids came from behind to claim a dramatic 2-1 victory over El Sharkia ENPPI, completing the opening five rounds of the Egyptian Premier League with a perfect record and moving clear at the top of the table before the international break.

The match was played at Al Salam Stadium, where Pyramids faced one of their toughest tests of the season. They fell behind early in the second half but responded strongly and completed the comeback with a late winner.

Rolani Mokwena's side entered the game looking to continue their excellent start and protect their 100% record. El Sharkia ENPPI, however, produced a competitive performance and put the league leaders under pressure before Pyramids' quality made the difference late in the match.

Late Comeback

The first half ended goalless despite attempts from both teams to create chances.

Pyramids also suffered an early setback when Mahmoud Zalaka was injured in the 13th minute, forcing the coaching staff to make an early substitution and introduce Ahmed Atef "Katta".

El Sharkia ENPPI then surprised Pyramids shortly after the restart. Hamed Abdallah opened the scoring in the 47th minute and gave his team a 1-0 lead.

Pyramids responded by increasing the pressure and pushing more players forward. Their efforts were rewarded in the 65th minute when Nasser Maher scored the equaliser.

The league leaders continued to attack as they searched for all three points, while Mokwena made further changes to strengthen his attacking options.

Substitute Walid El Karti eventually scored the decisive second goal in the closing stages of the match.

The goal was reviewed by VAR to check for a possible offside before it was confirmed, allowing Pyramids to complete an important comeback.

Pyramids protected their advantage until the final whistle to secure a 2-1 win after trailing earlier in the second half.

The victory took Pyramids to 15 points from their opening five matches, putting them alone at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table.

Ceramica Cleopatra currently have the strongest attack in the league after scoring 10 goals.

At the other end of the attacking statistics, Smouha, Abu Qir Fertilizers, Petroleum Asyut and Ghazl El Mahalla have each scored only once.

The Golden Boot race also remains very close after five rounds.

Four players share the lead with three goals each: Mostafa El Badry, Al Ahly's Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Modern Sport's Mahmoud Mamdouh and Al Qanah's Maouly Mayo.

The Egyptian Premier League will now pause for the international break, during which Egypt are scheduled to play matches against Angola, South Sudan and South Africa.

This season's competition features 20 clubs and is being played under a different format. The top six teams will progress to the championship group to compete for the league title and African qualification places, while the remaining 14 teams will battle to avoid relegation.

For Pyramids, the victory provides another major boost before the break. They have collected the maximum 15 points from their opening five matches, although the race remains close with Zamalek and Al Ahly only two points behind.
