Ramadan Sobhi’s Last Legal Hope? Player Awaits Ban Reasoning After Appeal Routes Exhausted

Ramadan Sobhi, the former Pyramids FC and Egypt national team player, is waiting to receive the full written reasons and documents related to his doping case as he looks for any remaining legal option that could affect his four-year suspension.
The move comes after the Swiss Federal Supreme Court rejected his appeal against the decision issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), leaving the four-year ban in place and making his legal situation more difficult.
According to a source close to the player, Ramadan Sobhi wants to receive and review the full details of the ruling before deciding on his next step. His legal team is expected to study the reasons behind the rejection of his appeal and all documents related to the case.
New Petition
At the moment, Sobhi has no new standard appeal route available after going through the previous stages of the legal process.
However, he is considering submitting a petition once he receives the full written reasons for the ruling. The aim would be to determine whether there is any legal basis that could allow his case or punishment to be reviewed again.
Any decision to submit the petition will depend on the details contained in the case documents and the reasons given in the previous rulings, especially after the Swiss Federal Supreme Court rejected his latest appeal.
CAS issued its decision on November 26, 2025, suspending Ramadan Sobhi for four years in the doping case.
The player later challenged the ruling before the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, but his appeal was rejected on September 20, 2026, meaning the four-year suspension remains in force.
Return in 2029
Although the suspension is for four years, the period Ramadan Sobhi had already spent under provisional suspension was counted as part of the total punishment.
Under the final decision in the case, his suspension is due to end on October 6, 2029. He would then be eligible to return to sporting activity unless a new legal development changes his situation before that date.
Sobhi's case began in August 2023 and later went through several stages, including investigations, provisional suspension and hearings before eventually reaching the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
After CAS imposed the four-year suspension, Sobhi attempted to challenge the decision through the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, but the rejection of his appeal kept the punishment unchanged.
The player is now waiting for the full written reasons behind the ruling, which will help determine his next legal move at a time when his available options have become more limited.
For now, a petition is the legal step being considered, while October 6, 2029 remains the scheduled date for the end of his suspension and his possible return to action unless the case sees another legal development before then.
