Hani Ramzy has returned to Egyptian football in a new role after ZED FC announced the appointment of the former Egypt and Al Ahly star as sporting director of the first team.

The move comes as ZED continue working to develop their football structure and strengthen the team during a season that includes challenges in both domestic and African competitions.

Ramzy will have an important role in managing the sporting side of the first team. His responsibilities are expected to include helping shape the club’s plans, supporting the coaching staff and following the main football matters surrounding the squad.

New Role at ZED

ZED's decision to appoint Ramzy is part of the club’s plan to improve its sporting and administrative structure and bring more experience into the football department.

Ramzy is expected to work closely with both the club management and the coaching staff, while helping to create a clearer sporting plan for the coming period.

The club hopes the new structure will provide greater stability as ZED compete in several tournaments during the season.

ZED currently sit 10th in the Egyptian Premier League with seven points from five matches. They have recorded two wins, one draw and two defeats.

The league campaign is still at an early stage, giving the club time to improve both its performances and results over the coming rounds.

ZED also have another major challenge this season through their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding more pressure to the team's schedule and increasing the importance of strong sporting management.

Experience and Ambition

Ramzy brings a wide range of experience from different areas of football, having worked as a player, coach and football administrator.

One of the biggest moments of his coaching career came with Egypt’s Olympic team, which he guided to qualification for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

He later worked with several clubs, including Wadi Degla, ENPPI, Ittihad El Shorta and Al Ittihad Alexandria, as well as Belgian club Lierse.

Ramzy also moved into football administration and previously worked as head of scouting at Al Ahly.

His new role with ZED therefore represents another stage in a career that has included experience on the pitch, on the coaching bench and behind the scenes.

ZED are hoping that this experience can help the club make stronger sporting decisions and build a more stable plan for the future.

Ramzy arrives ahead of an important period for the team, which includes a meeting with Zamalek in the opening round of the Egyptian League Cup on October 7 at Arab Contractors Stadium.

With domestic and African competitions ahead, ZED face a demanding stage of the season.

Ramzy will now be one of the key figures responsible for shaping the club's football direction, and the coming months will show how much his experience can influence the team's development and results.
