Reports: Zamalek Reject $1m Ahly Benghazi Offer for Ahmed Fattouh

Ahmed Fattouh’s future at Zamalek has returned to the spotlight after the left-back was linked with a move to Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi, while reports also suggested a financial disagreement over a new contract with the Egyptian club.
The situation has created plenty of questions around the Egyptian international, especially with reports discussing a major financial offer from Libya and different figures surrounding his renewal talks.
However, Zamalek have now made their official position clear, insisting that they want Fattouh to remain with the team and have no intention of selling him at this stage.
The issue is especially important because Fattouh is entering the final period of his current contract, making his future one of the key files Zamalek need to settle.
Libyan Offer Complicates Talks
According to media reports, negotiations between Zamalek and Fattouh over a new contract have faced a major difference over salary.
Reports claimed that Zamalek offered the player around EGP 25 million per season, while Fattouh was linked with a request for EGP 50 million annually to renew his deal.
At the same time, Al Ahly Benghazi reportedly entered the race to sign the Egyptian left-back.
The Libyan club was initially reported to have offered $500,000 for a permanent transfer, before negotiations continued over the transfer fee.
Further reports suggested that the offer was raised to $700,000, while another figure of $1 million was later mentioned as a possible fee for a permanent deal.
A loan move was also discussed as another possible option.
According to the reported proposal, Zamalek could receive $500,000 for a two-season loan, while Fattouh could earn a total of $3.5 million during his time in Libya.
The reported salary package would give him $1.5 million in the first season and $2 million in the second.
Any possible loan agreement would also require Zamalek to deal with Fattouh’s contract situation before allowing him to leave.
His current deal runs until the summer of 2027, meaning that without an extension, his contractual situation will become increasingly important as he moves closer to the final months of the agreement.
Zamalek Holds Firm
Despite the reports surrounding the Libyan offer, Zamalek’s official position points in a different direction.
Maher Gharib, the club’s head of media operations, confirmed that Zamalek do not want to sell Fattouh and said the player’s agent had already been informed of that position when the first offer arrived.
He also denied that Zamalek had asked for an increased transfer fee in order to approve the player’s departure.
The club believes Fattouh remains an important member of the squad because of his quality, international experience and influence on the pitch.
Zamalek officials also indicated that the figures being reported for a possible transfer do not reflect the value they place on the Egyptian international.
Gharib added that there had been no new communication with Fattouh or his agent following the latest public comments surrounding the situation.
He stressed that any official development regarding the player’s future would be announced directly by the club.
That leaves two different sides to the story. Media reports continue to discuss difficult renewal negotiations and interest from Al Ahly Benghazi, while Zamalek’s official position is that the player is not currently available for sale.
The renewal talks are therefore likely to be the most important part of the situation in the coming period.
If Zamalek can reach a new agreement with Fattouh, much of the uncertainty surrounding his future could disappear. If no extension is agreed, questions over his next step are likely to continue as his contract moves closer to its final months.
Zamalek also have Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg available in the same position, but Fattouh remains one of the club’s most experienced options and has also built considerable international experience with Egypt.
For now, Zamalek’s message is clear: the club want Ahmed Fattouh to stay and are not planning to sell him, while the renewal talks and reported Libyan interest will remain under close attention until a new official development takes place.
